SECTION I: “ENERGIZE” TOURS
[Pampering, relaxing and/or movement-based activities]
Girls Night Out “eSPAcade”
Prepare to sample more than the latest polish colors when you enter one of the city’s most intriguing spa-bistros. After being whisked to Portland’s high-spirited Pearl District, you’re invited to kick up your heels at this top-rated oasis. Hors d'oeuvres and themed cocktails let you know that you’ve left no-frills nails far behind.
Golfing Galore
When you swing a club on one of Oregon’s top courses, you’ll be putting in the footsteps of golfing greats. As you perfect your putting surrounded by some of the NW’s most relaxing scenery, we guarantee you’ll feel you’ve left the city behind.
Wild and Scenic River Rafting
Thank the glaciers of Mount Adams for melting, because their icy streams turn into a body of water that’s nationally recognized for its scenic beauty and whitewater rafting thrills: White Salmon River. As experienced guides take you through Class III-IV rapids, lush vegetation and ancient rock walls create an unforgettable ambiance.
SECTION II: “EXPLORE” TOURS
[Hands-on activities/General sightseeing]
Landmarks of the Oregon Coast
Viewing Oregon’s rugged North Coast you’ll notice something missing: no artificial barriers mar its rugged beauty. In fact, thanks to former Governor Tom McCall, all of the state’s 400 miles of undulating coastline are fence-free and open to the public. You can write your thank you note as you perch above one of the Pacific’s most wildlife-heavy and scenic spots…just make sure not to miss the historic lighthouse that provides a picture-perfect backdrop.
Please Note: While access to the lighthouse and gift shop is ADA compliant, access to the lighthouse tower itself is not.
Natural Wonders of the Northwest
Keep your eyes off the road, because you’re going to be traveling a highway that’s anything but ho-hum. As you wind along the cliff-face blacktop that Samuel C. Lancaster designed and built in the early 1900s, you’ll be in prime position to view the Columbia River Gorge’s spectacular offerings. Waterfalls, windsurfers, and grand historic buildings are just a few of the marvels you’ll have a chance to enjoy along the way.
Whys and Hows of Wine Blending
Take a science class for wine-loving grownups that’s a little bit learning and a whole lot of fun. You’ll learn about grape varieties and get a crash course in how to taste wine. You’ll hear what structural and flavor components of a wine are important in blending, and get the answer to baseline questions like, “Why do winemakers blend wine, anyway?” Then it’s magic time (with no need to memorize the Periodic Table of Elements, we promise).
Dinner Cruise on the Willamette
Jump aboard your evening’s transportation and see Portland from some of its best angles! From your point of departure you’ll spy downtown and the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI). As you cruise the Willamette you’ll note why “Bridgetown” is one of the city’s most popular nicknames: while all spans connect east to west, the riverscape benefits from their many differences.
SECTION III: “EVOLVE” TOURS
[Experiences that incorporate any of the following: Portland/the PNW’s past; revitalized neighborhoods; fresh takes on food, drink, business, or urban living]
Beervana
Take one for the hophead-loving team back home and send your taste buds on a tour of Portland’s craft beers. Intense flavors mark Oregon’s internationally-famous beers; judge award winners for yourself while getting the history behind the suds. If you don’t know an India Pale Ale from an Imperial IPA, fear not. Just say the word, and a customized sampling strategy will help guide the way. Here’s mud in your eye!
Celebrating the Northwest’s Native Bounty (Seasonal)
One of Portland’s least famous, but most spectacular, gardens and discover how what began as one woman’s plant collection has turned into a global resource for conservationists. Then reap the benefits of a different kind of environmental stewardship (hint: it’s edible!) as you get a chance to live like in-the-know locals.
Reuse/Repurpose/Recycle Tour (Half day)
Curious about how others are making recycling or repurposing part of their world — and then bringing the results to others? Have an interest in sustainable, LEED-certified architecture? Then dive into a diverse realm where non-profits and businesses alike are praising the financial, social, and environmental aspects of going green(er).
Specialties of Sellwood Antique Tour
Come prowl Portland’s Sellwood area, where both die-hard collectors and fair-weather browsers seek to score mementos of the past. With a savvy guide structuring your adventure, you’re bound to stay focused and fascinated. If what’s inside the shops isn’t enough, you’ll find plenty of visual stimulation in the neighborhood itself: historic storefronts, classically-painted Victorians and bungalows, mature landscaping, and low-key residents create a pretty picture.
Epicurean Excursion Walking Tour
Eating and drinking your way through a city can be done on your own — but once you finish this gastronomic tour of Portland’s Pearl District, you and your stomach will see the added flavor a behind-the-scenes perspective brings. This walking tour runs just under 2 miles, lasts 3.5 hours, and averages 30 chances to engage all of your senses while sampling the area’s culinary pleasures.
Please note: For safety reasons, we suggest closed-toe shoes.
Underground Portland Walking Tour
Get ready to slide into the sleazier side of Portland’s past and present! Revel in PG-13 tales of underworld crimes, sordid capers, controversial kingpins, illicit activities, and naughty vices. This walking tour runs 1.5 miles, lasts 2.5 hours, and averages more stories about Portland’s (literally) underground shenanigans and (poetically-named) “underground” vices than you can count.
Please note: For safety reasons, we suggest closed-toe shoes
